• This part is voluntary. Sophie Towle, who is a PhD student at the University of New Hampshire is collecting surveys of students taking abstract algebra courses this semester for her Ph.D. thesis research on how algebra courses change students’ perception of mathematics.

  Please help Sophie by completing this survey. It should take about 10 minutes. Since the goal is to check if after taking MTH 419 your views on math changed in some way, I will post another such survey toward the end of the semester.

• Homework 2 problems are posted here.
• Homework solutions need to be submitted though UBLearns.

Note.

• Homework should be submitted as a single pdf file. If you are submitting hand-written solutions, you can scan them to pdf using e.g. Notes app on iPhone or Google Drive app on Android phones. Solution of each problems should start on a new page.
• I will add 20% extra points to your homework score for homework solutions typeset using LaTeX. A zip file with LaTeX homework template is available here, but you are not required to use it to get the extra credit.
